A Lifecyle Approach to Sustaining Student Success Analytics
Across the sector, institutions of higher education are busy in the adoption and proliferation of analytics-based student success initiatives. For some, the investment is paying off, while for others the return is still pending. Over the last seven years, Dr. Colver has worked with dozens of institutions globally in various roles, facilitating productive and intentional usage of analytics by higher education professionals. Meaningful patterns of best practice have emerged from this work, providing important answers to the question: When student success analytics initiatives go well, what does that look like?
Dr. Mitchell Colver, formerly a Visiting Scholar at London South Bank University, will present on the tactical issues faced by universities that adopt predictive analytics—and provide insights on how to overcome challenges commonly faced while implementing intelligent solutions.

Dr. Mitchell Colver serves as Associate Provost for Engagement & Retention at the American Public University System, a consortium of fully-digital universities with nearly 100,000 students and 1,600 faculty. A thought leader in the field of higher education, Dr. Colver’s professional focus has been on professional empowerment, organizational efficiency, and student success. As a change management consultant in the realm of student success analytics, he is frequently invited to champion the idea that student success can best be fostered through increased intentionality amongst faculty, staff, and executives. Dr. Colver believes that human empowerment and collaboration, enhanced by emerging technologies, are the most powerful tools that 21st century institutions have in their arsenal to optimize the student ecosystem. His research has appeared in Popular Science, Discover, Slate, Smithsonian, New York Magazine, and, internationally, on Radio BBC. His prominence in the field has allowed him to serve as an online pedagogy and change-management consultant for universities across the nation and globe.
