HESPA Conference 2021

HESPA 2021 Annual Conference

21st - 25th June 2021

Welcome to HESPA21! Having postponed the conference from its usual February timing, we are thrilled to be going ahead in June via an exciting new virtual event platform called Hopin.

The theme this year is all about collaborating to steer your institution through change. For many of us, the last 12-18 months have been some of the most transformative and challenging on record, and in order to repair some of the damage that the global pandemic has caused, a collaborative sector-wide approach is going to be essential. There is clear role for HESPA, and representative bodies like it, to bring institutional members together with other sector colleagues to communicate and support one another. We also want to ensure that you have the right tools and feel equipped to deal with both the transformation process itself and the new post-pandemic world.

Collaborate to Navigate will bring higher education colleagues together to discuss, debate, challenge, share and learn. Despite being held virtually, the conference is still a great opportunity to network and catch-up with old friends, as well as making new ones. Indeed, the virtual nature of the event means that we can enable institution-wide access to all of our sessions and speakers and this is something we really want to promote this year to ensure that you are getting the best possible value for yourself, your colleagues and your institution. We actively wish to encourage cross-departmental engagement to enhance systems, processes and better working practice, and to forge valuable links and relationships which we hope will continue far past the event itself.

With a mixed programme, including plenaries, workshops, business sessions, awards and fun activities, we believe that there will be something for everyone. Sessions are not strictly strategic planning-related (whatever that might be – we certainly know from our planning remit survey that strategic planners are involved a huge variety of different remits and responsibilities). We are pleased to offer PHES-wide sessions from colleagues at AUDEBUFDGCHEIAHEPA and UHR. And beyond PHES, we are delighted to also have representation from ARMASROCAHUA and others. So when we say ‘institutional access’ we really mean it.

Please share this opportunity to your higher education colleagues far and wide and make sure you save a decent chunk of time in your diaries for conference week to make sure you can ‘hop in’ to absorb and engage.

We can’t wait to see you there!
