Ometis, a leading data consultancy for UK universities, is running
a one-day conference on data and AI. Here's what to expect:
Phil Atkinson's team at
Oxford Brookes University built machine learning models behind a learner
analytics app. Getting it built was the easy part. The session shows what
made staff use it daily, and the errors that kill adoption elsewhere. If
you're planning something similar, adoption is where these projects
succeed or fail.
The Open University
looks at the part most people avoid. Professor Miriam Fernandez has spent
over a decade designing AI that supports students. Her keynote is honest
about the risks, from biased data to the cost of getting the ethics wrong.
You'll leave able to check your own models for bias, and defend the
results when asked.
You'll also hear from
other experts on choosing the right tools, keeping costs down, and getting
AI to work in practice.
The event will take place on October 8th in central Birmingham.
