Laura Knox is Assistant Vice-Principal (Strategy and Planning) at the University of St Andrews. Her portfolio includes line management of Planning, Business Transformation, Environmental, Health and Safety Services, and the Strategy Support function. She leads the framework for the development, engagement and implementation of the University Strategy and associated plans, and supports institutional planning, assurance and evidence-led decision making across the University. Prior to joining the Principal’s Office, Laura was Director of Planning and the first person to hold this role at St Andrews. She established the Planning unit and led the development and embedding of its services, working collaboratively with Professional Service units and Academic Schools across the institution. She joined the University in 2008, following research, analytical and planning support roles in the public and higher education sectors. Laura places great value on external engagement and liaison across the sector. She is Chair of the Higher Education Data Insights Group, a member of the HESPA Executive, and contributes to several external advisory groups representing the planning community in Scotland, the UK and Europe.
