Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th November (running in two halves to make the content easier to digest)
Time: 09.30 – 12.30 on both days
Cost: £200 + VAT
Several approaches to strategic management assume relatively stable environments where strategy is formulated, implemented and then reviewed within a predefined period. However, what happens when environments become more dynamic, or when they are entirely disrupted by external factors (e.g., COVID pandemic, financial crises), and it is not easy to identify priorities at the beginning of a business cycle?
In these two half-day workshops we will discuss the assumptions that underpin traditional approaches to strategy and how these may have to change when adaptation, agility and responsiveness are required. Also, we will show how strategy can mean different things depending on context, and will address fundamental questions such as: how can we balance a deliberate process of strategy formulation with a more emergent one? Is strategy an analytical process or a creative one? How can we become more agile and flexible in strategy formulation and implementation? How can we use data to look into the future (“feed-forward”) rather than only review past performance (feed-back)?
Throughout the workshops, we will undertake practical exercises and participants will be encouraged to contribute and discuss their own experiences.
