This workshop is designed to provide colleagues new to data roles with a comprehensive overview and induction to the world of Higher Education data. A broad range of data sources which can inform decision making and performance monitoring will be covered although there will be a particular focus on HESA data.
The workshop will be delivered through a combination of presentations with an opportunity for participants to ask questions after each section. Interactive polls, discussions and demonstrations will also used throughout the workshop to allow for attendee participation.

Target Audience: Those who need an understanding of what data is available, how it is utilised to both monitor HE activity and to communicate with stakeholders within and outside the institution.
Estimated level of audience knowledge: Beginner / Intermediate
Useful information about the sessions: The workshops will be delivered via Teams and it is useful to have both camera and microphone enabled. There will be regular breaks throughout the day, including a longer break for lunch. Participants are encouraged to request breaks if they need them.
Participant preparation: A preliminary questionnaire will be shared prior to the event to ask attendees what they are hoping to get out of the course.
