SUMS have shared a University Lands report deploying geospatial analysis of public and open-source datasets to map the UK higher education sector, accompanied by a mapping tool which allows users to explore for themselves. The report explores the data over four strategic themes for institutions and at sector level: State of the sector’s land, Risks, Opportunities and Value.
William Phillips is the data analyst who worked on the report and mapping tool and he has offered to share information about the journey to pull in open source data and present it so that stakeholders across the sector can easily access and use the visualisations. He’ll also walkthrough one key analysis from the mapping tool.
Speaker details: William Phillips, Data Analyst at SUMS. William develops interactive dashboards, financial models, and geospatial tools that assess climate risks, sustainability opportunities, and institutional resilience. He is always looking for new ways to tell stories with data, helping provide additional perspectives through interactive tools.
