In September 2025, OfS launched the first stage of a two-part consultation on a new approach to regulating quality, proposing changes to the principles, scope and structure of the Teaching Excellence Framework, and how the overall quality system would be integrated.
OfS have now published outcomes of this consultation, confirming proposals that will be taken forward and outlining further issues which will be considered as part of a more technical follow up consultation due out in the autumn. While a lot of the detail is yet to be confirmed, interim proposals establish notable changes for how providers participate in and will be assessed through the new framework.
This session will aim to improve understanding of OfS’ plans for TEF and implications for sector, providers and planners, helping position members as subject experts and support them prepare for the second stage consultation and participation in the TEF. We anticipate that it will be particularly useful for those with less familiar with regulatory developments around TEF and evolving quality framework but may potentially of interest to a more informed audience
