Power BI: More than just dashboards
11th November 2026
MS Teams, 14:00 - 15:00
Glasgow Caledonian adopted Power BI as their dashboard tool in 2020 to surface management information data to end users. Since then, they have extended their use of Power BI to include other areas of reporting. This session will demonstrate their approach using a single semantic model for a number of use cases, including:
Management information dashboards.
Providing student data in response to data requests.
Paginated reports to support quality assurance and enhancement processes.
Automated data quality checking reports.
Student-level operational reporting.
HESA data quality checks.
Speaker details: Wes Smith, BI and Data Analytics Manager at Glasgow Caledonian. Wes is responsible for statutory returns and BI reporting, including dashboard and report development, data quality, and end user training.
